And I don’t know what it was. Looked sort of like an ür-S6 but had some factory-looking body kit on it - both bumpers had vents on them. And it was silver with little S-badges front and rear.
Any idea what kind of rare 25-year old German sport sedan could have been running around Belmont NC yesterday?
Like this, mostly.
Update:
I googled ür-S4 body kit and found this:
It looks like these are the bumpers. So y'all are correct.

Probably ür-S4. Mostly the same as the 6, but came earlier. All kinds of after market trim bits going on with these, because the rubber bits went to shit 10 years ago.

I second what TekamulBurner said. The ür-S4 and ür-S6 are the same car, just as the 100 and A6 they were based on were the same car. Audi changed their naming scheme from 80/90/100/200/V8 etc. to A4/A6/A8 in M.Y. ‘95 when the then-all-new A4 replaced the 80/90. This was mid-way through the 100/A6's “Type C4" bodystyle. Since the bigger S4 could easily be confused with the smaller A4, the S4 was renamed to S6.
